In February 1929, just months before the Great Depression, 10 charter members found the Junior League of Fort Worth.

Junior League of Fort Worth Admitted to AJLI

Mar 6th, 1930

The Junior League of Fort Worth is admitted to the Association of Junior Leagues.

Theater Group Established

The Junior League of Fort Worth establishes its own theater group and presents their first play, "Cinderella."

Age Minimum for Provisionals Raised

Legislative Committee

The Corral

The Junior League of Fort Worth changes the name of its monthly publication to The Corral.

Junior League Garden Club Founded

1950

The Junior League of Fort Worth forms the Garden Club.

First Circus Cabaret

Fort Worth Art Association Texas Wildcat Art Show

Advisory Planning Committee

1952 - 1953

The Junior League of Fort Worth sets up the Advisory Planning Committee to evaluate the League structure.

Community Research Committee

1955 - 1956

The Junior League of Fort Worth forms the Community Research Committee to research community health and welfare needs.

Marionette Committee

The Junior League of Fort Worth creates the Marionette Committee as one of its standing committees.

Age Minimum for Provisionals Raised Again

The minimum age for provisional members is raised from 20 to 22.

Office Manager Appointed

1967 - 1968

The Junior League of Fort Worth employs a secretary for the League office and appoints an office manager.

Advisory Committee Established

The Junior League of Fort Worth establishes the Advisory Committee, to be made up of four civic leaders, plus legal counsel, accountant, and past president.

40th Anniversary

The Junior League of Fort Worth celebrates its 40th anniversary of joining The Association of Junior Leagues.

McFarland House Purchased

1979

The Junior League of Fort Worth purchases the McFarland House.

Community Vice President

1979 - 1980

A community vice president is elected for the first time to serve on the Executive Committee. Johanne Repper Kibbie is the first member to hold the office.

Area V Seminar Host

For the first time, the Junior League of Fort Worth hosts the Area V Seminar.

50th Anniversary

1980

McFarland House Texas Historical Medallion Dedicated

Oct 3rd, 1980

The Texas Historical Medallion for the McFarland House is dedicated, with League members, city officials, and representatives from several historical preservation groups in attendance.

League Office Moved to McFarland House

1981 - 1982

The Junior League of Fort Worth moves its office to the McFarland House and prepares the first floor for museum tours.

Rivercrest Country Club Burned

The Rivercrest Country Club, the site of Junior League of Fort Worth meetings for years, burns down.

P.O.L.L.

1982 - 1983

The Junior League of Fort Worth is invited to join the Presidents of Large Leagues (P.O.L.L.) and JLFW representatives attend their first P.O.L.L. meeting.

Texas Sesquicentennial

1986

The Junior League of Fort Worth celebrates 150 years of Texas statehood by creating a Sesquicentennial Task Force. As part of their commemoration, the League donates three Landsat satellite photographs to the Fort Worth Museum and Science and History.

Digital Cheetah

The Junior League of Fort Worth purchases and implements Digital Cheetah, a software program that allows for online registration, placement selection, and dues payment.

League Office Moved to 255 Bailey Avenue

2007

The Junior League of Fort Worth moves its headquarters to 255 Bailey Avenue.

New Location for Double Exposure

2008

The Double Exposure Resale Shop moves to 1712 8th Avenue.

International Vision Award

2008

The Junior League of Fort Worth receives the International Vision Award from the AJLI for its signature project working with homeless children and the Presbyterian Night Shelter.

2009

Past President's Portrait Gallery

2009 - 2010

In honor of the League's 80th anniversary, the Past President's Portrait Gallery is installed in the Amon G. Carter Community Room at headquarters. All 48 living past presidents have their portraits taken.

2012

255 Bailey Avenue Building Purchased

2012

The Junior League of Fort Worth purchases their headquarters building at 255 Bailey Avenue from JaGee Properties and launches a building campaign called Room to Work, Room to Grow, Room to Serve. Over $500,000 is raised in the first six months.

85th Anniversary

2015

The Junior League of Fort Worth celebrates its 85th anniversary of joining The Association of Junior Leagues.

100th Anniversary Fund Started

In celebration of its 85th Anniversary, the Junior League of Fort Worth establishes the 100th Anniversary Fund with the goal of growing the fund to a $1 million gift to the community during its centennial celebration.

Community Impact Award

The Junior League of Fort Worth receives the Community Impact Award from the AJLI for the Nehemiah Project.

2018

Age Limits Removed

2018 - 2019

Junior League of Fort Worth members approve an amendment to the Bylaws that eliminates both the upper age limit to join and the mandatory age to sustain.
