Make-a-Wish Foundation

Since 1980, Make-a-Wish has been creating life-changing wish experiences for children with critical illnesses. JLFW volunteers assist Make-a-Wish with daily administrative tasks, meet with children to grant wishes, and organize special events and fundraisers.

Moonlight Special

Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas

Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas (MMBNT) aims to improve the health and survival of infants through the safe provision of pasteurized donor human milk. MMBNT serves premature and critically ill infants whose own mothers’ milk is not available. JLFW volunteers assist MMBNT in preparing for events and other projects related to outreach and setting up for the annual luncheon. In addition, they assemble packets for new moms, which are distributed to hospitals, doctor offices, and other health-related locations.

National Issues Forum

Nehemiah Project

As part of their ongoing support for Opening Doors for Women in Need (ODWIN), in 2012-2013, the Junior League of Fort Worth donated an initial $40,000, plus an additional $75,000 and 500 volunteer hours to build a home in the Como neighborhood. Along with discounted labor and materials coordinated by JLFW members, ODWIN constructed the Nehemiah Building, which provides space for women to receive help with the integration process after returning from incarceration. In 2015, JLFW received the AJLI Community Impact Award for this project.

Adopt-a-School Program

Adopt-a-School matches classes in the Fort Worth Independent School District with businesses in the community. JLFW volunteers help with training and act as liaisons between business and school.

Adult Basic Education

Volunteers in Adult Basic Education assist the teacher with adults in one or more of the following areas: improvement of basic skills such as math or grammar, study toward a GED, study of English as a second language, and coping skills.

Alliance for Children - Kids Crew

Botanic Garden Education Program

The Botanic Garden Education Program, part of the Fort Worth Park and Recreation Department, provides an educational program for the Botanic Garden. JLFW volunteers serve as display assistants or docents, giving tours of the Garden, providing programs in nursing homes, and participating in Garden events.
